i had the itch to fly, and i flew.

back in MA, where it started snowing as soon as we crossed the state border. i'm all showered and squeaky clean and already dying to get back on the road.

nashville was delightful, at home with a friend's parents who were incredibly sweet and welcoming. we ate homemade potato salad and burgers and played peek-a-boo with little nieces off the highway amidst little creeks and green fields. heard incredible bluegrass at the station inn, which was packed and dark and where the rang a big bell every time something special happened - which on this night, was at the end of every song.

nashville was followed by a quick afternoon in louisville with a little sun and a lot of shopping, then on to dayton where anna's family was also incredibly sweet and welcoming and charming and and and. i could use happy adjectives to describe them forever. another incredible family dinner followed by a night out on the town, playing pool and listening to cover bands and then we were back on the road, heading home with too-quick stops in columbus and philly.

pictures coming soon. i'm torn between wanting to look at them, and knowing that if i look at them i'll never get any work done. as balls brown (aka rachel) said, nostalgia is a double-edged sword.
